When life interrupts plans

I always have plans in the works and I am stunned when something happens to interrupt my plans. WHAT? I silently scream. I fight the interruption. I try to fit all plans plus the interruption into my day.

It does not work out so well.

I had planned to complete the small art per day challenge. During the summer I kayak at sunrise.

Then life happened: a dear friend became critically ill.

It is more important now that I suspend my plans and focus on the one thing that is important now: visiting my friend and taking care of his needs.

People say, “Man plans, and God laughs.” No. God does not laugh at me. He aches that situations may throw me for a loop. He guides me, however, in navigating the change and encourages me to lean on Him. That is not laughter, that is love.
